Appearance:
Being the Capitan of the Kidou Corps, casting wonderful and powerful spells, and being the theatric person she is, Nana has taken liberties on her own appearance to better suit her own personality. The trait that features most prominently is her Auburn, high crested Pompadour. From the peak of its height all the way down to the back of her neck is blown back in a Mohawk type fashion. It may not seem that way, but it only takes Nana about 15 minutes to get it in this manner. Her hair is just trained to the point that it naturally stands up on its own – her only job being to crop it into a presentable fashion. It is kind of funny to look at when she gets up in the morning. Everything stands up and out, making her look like an old school troll doll. Coming up in close second to her outrageous fashion sense are her sparkly green eyes. Always full of vigor, they seem to be ever excited no matter he circumstances. A small dusting of freckles spreads across her sharp nose, collarbone and her narrow shoulders. Up against her olive skin, the freckles show up lighter and stand out more. Her body itself is very slim, but lean – flexible like a whip and cracks just as hard.
With her always impeccable fashion sense, Nana knows how to stand out and look good while doing so. Her standard Shinigami shihakusho is almost unmodified except for a few features. Her hakama is in the form of a long skirt, rather than the pants, that come down to right about her ankles. The kosode piece of her uniform is in a sense sleeveless. There is cloth connecting from her shoulder to bands on her wrists made of the same material – giving her the appearance of having wings when she opens, raises or quickly moves her arms. On her waist is a blood red sash holding her uniform in place. Her Capitan’s haori is long and loose like a cloak with a high collar. The upper half is sleeveless and clings tightly to her, showing off her wing sleeves. The lower half however comes apart in seven even segments starting at her waist – the traditional diamond pattern dons each part (one diamond per segment. There’s a gold and purple lining that runs across the edges of the haori. Held on across her chest, mostly for show, is a clasp in the shape of the symbol for the Kido Corps. Within the circle of the symbol is the crest of her noble house. It signifies her stature as both her rank as Capitan, Kidō Corps Commander and leader of her noble house. Carried in her hand is a shakujō staff - the held item by the Kido Corps commander. The staff is mainly used as a status symbol, but is held in high regard all the same.

Personality & Background:
Nana has worked her way to the top and reached the pinnacle of magical ability; and yet still reaches for the stars. With great power comes great responsibility, as the saying goes. She, however, doesn’t exactly follow the expression to the highest degree. Our Capitan is the headstrong and confident type that likes to flaunt her ability here and there. For her, the entire world is a stage. She loves to be the center of attention and perform for the sake of others and the amusement of herself. Just for the fun of it, she’s constantly putting on "shows" for others to entertain them and make them happy – even with the most mundane of tasks. All of her flair and theatrics comes out subconsciously as she goes (almost mindlessly). For example, she twirls pens between her fingers like a baton or exaggerated movements while performing spells, seals or barriers. Nana enjoys stimulating other people's senses, and is extremely good at it. The way she feels, she would love nothing more than for life to be a continual party, in which she plays the role of the fun-loving host. She’s a sucker for theatrics and Drama – going as far as extending battles to cut loose and provide a spectacle for not only her opponent, but for those who might be watching. In a more casual outlook, she’s the type that will tear it up at karaoke, but still go up with someone struggling with stage freight. She lives in the here-and-now, and relish excitement and drama in the world around her. Though, if the need is dire and the stakes are high, Nana will not hesitate to use her magical reserves to tear her opponents to ribbons.
This lively Gal loves people, and everybody loves her in turn. She has that type of demeanor that just rubs off on people. One of her greatest gifts is her general acceptance of everyone. She is unfailingly warm and generous with her friends, and she generally treats everyone as a friend. However, once crossed, Nana is likely to make a very strong and stubborn judgment against the person who did her wrong. She usually makes decisions by using her own personal values and is usually very sympathetic and concerned for other people's well-being. She may not be the best advice-giver in the entire world, because she dislikes theory and future-planning, but is great for giving practical care. She is likely to be very practical, although she hates structure and routine. She prefers to "go with the flow", trusting in her ability to improvise in any situation presented to her. She learns best with "hands-on" experiences, rather than by picking up a book or studying. Nana trusts in her gut and relies upon her instincts to make quick decisions. Instead of calculation, she calls upon her deep understanding of herself and her power to cast judgement over situations. As stated before, Nana is uncomfortable with theory. She tends to avoid situations which involve a lot of theoretical thinking, or are complex and ambiguous. For this reason, she had quite a tough time in the Academy when it came to buckling down and going over things she was forced to remember. Thankfully, over the years of rising through the ranks and memorizing protocol in her Noble position, she’s developed tactics for herself in order to properly manage her duties and remember things that are more prevalent. On the other hand, she does extremely well in situations where she’s allowed to learn by interacting with others ("learn by doing").
Nana is definitely a spontaneous, optimistic individual. She loves to have fun. Although, having fun in her everlasting party isn’t always a good thing. She occasionally tends to become over-indulgent, and place more importance on immediate sensation and gratification than on their duties and obligations – not noticing the long-term consequences of her actions. Nana under a great deal of stress gets overwhelmed with negatives thoughts and possibilities. As an optimistic individual who lives in the world of possibilities, negative possibilities do not sit very well with her. In an effort to combat these thoughts, she’s likely to come up with simple, global statements to explain away the problem. These simplistic explanations may or may not truly get to the nature of the issue, but they serve Nana well by allowing her to get over it
But why is this woman the Kidou Corps Commander and Grand Kidou Chief of the Soul Society? What is it that makes her qualified for such a dignified position? Being a member of the prestigious Akagawa Household, one of the Four Noble Houses in the Soul Society, magical prowess instinctively flows through her body. Their family tree seems to be nourished by the arcane that is so saturated in the world around us. The Akagawas through the ages have been exceptional Kido users; taking various positions among the 13 Court Guard Companies. Why, if you trace it back far enough, you can find some of the progenitors of the Noble House having a hand in the kick starting of the Gotei 13. There is an unquestioned agreement that her Kidou ability surpasses any seated or non-seated officer in the Gotei 13. Some may waiver on admittance to such a claim, but very few will deny that fact. Second, while she may choose indulgence over importance from time to time, Nana realizes the critical responsibility her job entails. She is the leader of the most powerful magical division in the Seireitei. When duty comes a knocking, she invites it in for drinks. That being said, when her duty requires it of her, she throws herself into her work – and it’s a marvel to do so.

Random Facts:

- Her favorite type of food is Nabemono (one-pot Dishes), such as Sukiyaki & Shabu-Shabu, and Soup dishes

- Being the head of one of the Four Noble Houses, Nana is well versed in etiquette and procedure to function in a serious setting. While not her favorite thing in the world, or at all, she holds herself in an almost graceful manner. Almost. Her exaggerated mannerisms, while diluted, are a welcomed sight among her and other courts – especially to the older members, whom watched her coming into her role. It reveals her fluid nature in an almost rigid atmosphere.

- It is very common for members or the Akagawa family to be a part of the 7th division due to their exceptional proficiency in the arts of Kido. The family also has a history of service in the Kido Corps. In turn, they have been charged with accumulating the collective knowledge of all Kido. Those have which been nearly lost to the ages, old and ancient in their own right, and any new that may develop as the years go by. A force to be reckoned with, they have developed quite a few techniques of their own – adding to the already vast archive of spells.
