Today was the day! Today was Mamoru's day off. The wait for it was practically excruciating. During that past week, he had been put through a number of various activities. AND, due to his large size, made it all the more "fun". There was a few easy things, which weren't that bad, like doing paperwork. Now that he thought about it, it was that bad! There was a miniature mountain of just forms and paperwork that ha to be done. Some of it was rather irrelevant, just little things, but it was tedious all the same. But isn't all paperwork like that? There also was sentry duty to be done. But that's basically looking out into the distance at nothing for countless hours on end. Nothing was ever really around to cause any real trouble - Besides the occasional hollow threat. Those were easily taken care of anyhow. More related to that, Mamoru had to patrol the grounds and take care of anything that seemed to be of a threat. He nearly got his arm lopped off by a large hollow that caught him off guard. Nasty bugger that one was. Other than that, it was a breeze. Just a couple of hours of watching the scenery, taking a stroll and eating a Bento box he prepared for himself. Then there was the harder. Again, due to his size, he became the prime target for heavy lifting. His girlfriend, Akina Hishiko, somehow volunteered him to move rocks around to get them out of the way so to not to be an inconvenience. Well, they 'didn't look quite right' in a few spots, so they were shifted more than a few times. Mamoru didn't complain though; they weren't all that heavy - except I e particularly large one. There was a few other tasks, but it would seem tedious to go on about his activities. Today was his day to get away from it all and have time to himself. What better way to do that than roam around in the World of the Living? There's plenty of things to do and things to see.

For his outing, he picked out an outfit that he was usually seen in when he donned casual clothes. Almost always, when Mamoru is in his Casual clothes, you wont catch him without his Flack Jacket. Flak jackets are a form of protective clothing designed to provide protection from such things as blunt-force trauma or even bladed weapons, shrapnel and other projectiles or weaponry. He wears it mainly to be cautious - and partially because it looks pretty cool. His Flack jacket is beige in color with two pockets on either side of the chest. It also has a high collar, even height all around, coming up to his jaw-line. Of course, it has two pockets near the zipper for a place to put his hands. Placed in specialized pockets on the inside were metal plates, designed to protect him and add extra weight. Since our gargantuan friend is an exercise freak, it's for extra in-needed training. Under the jacket, he wears a thick long-sleeve turtle neck shirt, which is cuffed up to his elbow, with a pair of his wrist bands. Mamoru usually has a dark pair of loose-fitting jeans on, which drapes slightly over his boots. He has a pair of yellow-brown boots on that goes up to the top of his ankle. On his back, he brought a black backpack; just in case he should get anything while he's out.

Mamoru was walking down a side street somewhere in East Karakura town, pondering on what to do first. Before he could decide on anything, his stomach made a very audible gurgle. Looking down at it, He placed a hand on his stomach and rubbed it in a circle before laughing a bit to himself. "I guess I know what I'm doing first!" he stated to himself cheerfully. Exiting the side street, he made his way to a Main Street in that part of town . Casually strolling down the sidewalk, he looked about to attempt to locate any place to get something to eat. Spotting a sushi place, he just couldn't say no. He casually walked across the street, as to not look to eager to get there, and walked it. The place was pretty nice; a few tables with chairs, paper lamps hanging from the ceiling, medium length curtains in the windows and a bit of decor - Bamboo shafts, a lion statue & things of the sort. It kinda looked like he stepped back in time a couple hundred years. Briskly walking over to the counter and looked up at the menu hanging above the counter. Picking out a well-sized sushi plate, he told it to the short man behind the counter. The man smiled and nodded, going to work at the dish. A part of the counter was made of glass, so people could observe the process to make their orders - which was always fun. The dish consisted of about 10 pieces of maki tuna, 5 pieces of Nigiri salmon, and 5 pieces of Oshi yellowtail. Once the man was done, he placed them all in a small wooden container along with a bit of wasabi and soy sauce. Drooling yet? Mamoru paid the man, with tip, and brought it back to a table in the corner. The next 10 minutes was strictly eating. I'm not even sure he was breathing in between pieces. The meal was excellent. Once done, he cleaned his face with a napkin he was provided and stood up. Mamoru brought the container back to the counter and thanked the man. Taking back to the streets, he continued on to search for his next destination.

Feeling particularly refreshed from his meal, Mamoru was sent into a cheery mood. Getting a bit distracted, his eyes began to wander, looking at the stores with their products shown in display windows and the bright colored houses. Not paying Attention to his surroundings, Mamoru bumped into a wooden pole, sending him hitting the sidewalk. Rubbing the spot on his face where it made contact with his face, he grimaced and stood up to see what hit him. He saw that it was a wooden telephone pole with a wooden sign sticking out of it. It was a yellow sign with an intricate brown trim encircling the outer edge. He assumed it went to the store it was in front of. Reading it, it belonged to a bookstore. Turning to face the place, he saw through the window shelves and shelves of books, and also a bored looking guy in his later teens behind the counter. Mamoru almost chuckled, "Looks like that's the only job he could get". Shrugging his shoulders, he walked in.

Truth be told, Mamoru liked to read. It wasn't a normal thing, but he enjoyed it. So, waltzing up and down the isles of bookshelves, he tried to find something that caught his eye. Surprisingly, he picked out more than he thought he would. Mamoru got two books from the Health & Fitness section; One on exercise and a few on different types of martial arts. He also got a book centered mainly on tea. It's his guilty pleasure, so he just had to grab one. Altogether, Mamoru had 5 books. He brought them altogether to the counter where the teen sat, now reading a magazine. He waited there for a minute or two or him to take notice that he was there. Seeing as he was absorbed in his magazine, Mamoru coughed to try to make him notice - no avail. Things were getting a bit awkward. Finally, he saw that there was a bell. Feeling rather silly, he rang the bell. Immediately the teen jumped and fumbled his magazine. "Geeze!" He said, startled, "Don't sneak up on a guy like that!". Mamoru rolled his eyes and apologized. Thankfully, the teen didn't notice his action. Now happy that things were getting back on track, he placed the books on the counter. "You wanna buy these?" The teen asked. "Yep" Mamoru replied. Well that was a silly question to ask, he thought to himself. The teen marked up all the books and they were paid for. Satisfied with his purchase, he smiled & thanked the teen before leaving.

Upon exiting the store, Mamoru looked at his watch. It was 5:43, so he had time. He put all the books he had bought into his backpack, save for the book on tea. He read it as he walked down the street for a bit. He nearly bashed into a mailbox while reading. Reading the book, it made him realize that he was low on tea. Mamoru decided that he couldn't go back to the Soul Society without buying some first. Wandering for a few streets & taking a few turns, he stumbled upon a corner store. Well, he didn't really "stumble upon it", he asked for directions. He searched the store high and low until he found what he was looking for. Taking as much as he thought he needed, which was a lot, he brought it to the counter and immediately paid for it. He put the tea in the main pouch in his bag, above the books.

Again, upon coming out of the store, he checked his watch. It was 6:12 - time to head back home. Mamoru took off his backpack and gently set it on the ground. Reaching into the front pouch, he pulled out a glass jar. In the jar was a jet black butterfly - a Hell Butterfly. Unscrewing the cap, he released it. When it got a small distance away, it immediately disappeared. The exact moment it disappeared, a portal opened up. Mamoru put the jar and the cap back into his backpack and put it on. He smiled and walked into the portal. He went home.
